PC Performance Update

By 22nd January 2026 No Comments

Here is an update on the current state of PC performance in Wreckreation, explaining what we’ve tested internally, and offering practical guidance for players running at or near minimum specification. We will provide a similar update on console early next week.

We are aware of 2 Stalling issues which we detail further below.

Minimum Specification & Internal Testing

We have extensively tested the game on machines that meet our minimum PC specification, and we are confident that the game runs as intended on that hardware when configured appropriately.

Minimum PC Specification:

  •       Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 / Intel Core i3-8100
  •       Memory: 8 GB RAM
  •       Graphics: GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB) / Radeon RX 580 (8GB)
  •       DirectX: Version 12
  •       Storage: 60 GB available space

While we closely monitor community reports, we’re not able to provide custom, one-to-one performance support for individual PC configurations. Performance on PC can vary significantly due to differences in hardware, drivers, background software, and system setup.

We recommend you read this Post explaining what the different Graphical Settings in the game do and how you can use these to optimise your setup.

A Critical Requirement: VRAM

One requirement that may not be obvious—but is absolutely vital—is graphics card VRAM.

  •       The minimum required VRAM is 6GB.
  •       If your GPU has less than 6GB of VRAM, you should expect performance issues regardless of your CPU or system memory.

When the game exceeds available VRAM, it will fall back to using system (main) memory to avoid crashing. This is significantly slower for the GPU and can cause severe stuttering and stalls.

If, at the same time:

  •       You have only 8–16GB of system RAM, and/or
  •       You are running multiple background applications,

…it’s possible for system memory to also be exhausted. At that point, Windows will resort to virtual memory (using your hard drive as RAM), which results in major performance degradation and long stalls.

Expectations at Minimum Spec

If you are running at or close to minimum specification:

  •       1080p should be considered the upper limit.
  •       Running above 1080p on minimum spec hardware will not deliver consistent performance.
  •       Windowed Fullscreen uses your desktop resolution, which may be higher than 1080p.
  •       Exclusive Fullscreen locks the game to the resolution selected in the graphics menu and is strongly recommended.

Tested Performance Configuration

The following settings were tested internally and maintained 60–90 FPS for the majority of gameplay on this reference system:

Test System:

  •       CPU: Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz
  •       Memory: 16 GB
  •       GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile (6GB)
  •       DirectX: Version 12
  •       Storage: SSD

This GPU is slightly above minimum spec. If your GPU is slower, you may need to reduce some settings (especially shadows), use a more aggressive DLSS or FSR mode, or cap the game at 30Hz for a more consistent experience.

Recommended Settings for a min spec machine:

  •       Resolution: 1920 × 1080
  •       Framerate Cap: 60
  •       VSync: On
  •       DLSS Mode: Balanced or Performance
  •       Anti-Aliasing: High
  •       Texture Quality: High
  •       Shadow Quality: High
  •       Ambient Occlusion: Medium
  •       Transparency: Medium
  •       Motion Blur: High
  •       Bloom: High
  •       Volumetric Clouds: Medium
  •       Volumetric Fog: Medium
  •       Foliage Density: Medium
  •       VFX: Medium

Known Stalling Issues (Above Minimum Spec)

We are actively investigating reports of stalls (0.5–1s where the game stops updating) affecting some players who are running above minimum spec. So far, we’ve identified two primary causes:

1) Live Mix challenges with a very high number of pieces

Particularly race events using many new buildings or objects. We’ve identified the root cause and are actively working on a fix.

2) Background video capture or recording software

Features such as instant replay buffers or continuous background capture can periodically interrupt GPU workloads. If you are experiencing frequent stalls and are not affected by point #1, please try disabling all recording and background capture tools.

Short Framerate Blips

We are aware of brief framerate dips (e.g. drops to ~15 FPS for a fraction of a second) in certain areas of the world.

These are related to Unreal Engine world streaming rather than raw GPU performance, and as such are not improved by changing graphics settings. This is an area we continue to monitor and optimise where possible.
